The Lunar Chronicles ends its romantic, intergalactic rebellion story with the new novel, Winter. This story, based off of the fairy tale of Snow White, will find Winter an exciting conclusion to The Lunar Chronicles series.
Readers follow Winter, the beautiful, crazy, and well-liked step-daughter of Queen Levana. Threatened by her step-daughter’s popularity among the people of Luna, Queen Levana orders Winter to be killed. Barely escaping with her life with the help of Scarlet, the two girls join up with Cinder. Cinder, now fully committed to overthrowing Queen Levana’s rule, has traveled with her crew to Luna to start an uprising. But unforeseen forces threaten to shut down all the crew has worked for. Will Cinder and her friends be able to stop Queen Levana’s evil rule? Or will these outcasts find that their time has come to an end?
Finally, all of Meyer’s 8 main characters finally meet and work together in Winter. The shifting viewpoints surrounding these characters was confusing in the earlier novels but now that all the characters are all in one place, sorting out what is happening, who is involved, and guessing what might happen next is much easier and more fun to read.
Winter may be the final novel in this series but fans should not be disappointed. Companion novels for The Lunar Chronicles do exist. Readers can choose to see Levana’s point of view in Fairest or discover the back history of some of our heroes in Stars Above. Nevertheless, readers who do not want to leave The Lunar Chronicles universe will have plenty of options to choose from after the last page of Winter is read.
Readers who have stuck this long with The Lunar Chronicles will find that Winter is a fantastic and and thrilling conclusion to a wonderful series.
